Today is an exciting day! With this post, Im excited to announce the public release of a CreativeBriefs.xyz, a new resource for design students, young creatives, and career transitioners.
I created CreativeBriefs.xyz with one goal in mind: to help those in the design and creative industries build portfolios that truly reflect their skills and abilities. I understand the struggles of trying to showcase your abilities when you haven't had the chance to work on real-world projects. Years ago, when I made a career transition, it was challenging to prove I could be trusted to take on a project without having examples of similar work in my portfolio. At the time, I created made-up projects to fill in the gaps and help me land jobs - but they all felt a bit empty, mostly because I was in control of not only my work, but the environment and constraints that the work was supposed to respond to - not an ideal situation for quality, problem-solving design work.
That's why CreativeBriefs.xyz has a range of briefs created based on real brands and mimicking real-world scenarios. These two factors provide much needed reality and constraints for growing designers to use when creating mock-up projects because they reflect the kinds of work and tasks that are common in the profession. Each brief provides an open-edned opportunity to showcase a designer’s skills and build a portfolio that truly reflects their straights and interests.
My goal is to publish a new creative brief every two weeks! As part of this project, I’m actively looking for contributors to help add more briefs and other helpful resources to the site. To that end, a Roadmap of the planned features and additions is published on the About page: if you or a creative leader you know is interested in help out, please don’t hesitate to share!
Cheers!
George,
Founder of CreativeBriefs.xyz
To kickoff our launch, here are a few of my favorite briefs so far:
Create a visual marketing campaign for a food truck spin-off for Bayan Ko.
Design the layout, backdrop, and presentation for a live on-stage product announcement.
Rebrand a luxury Downtown Brooklyn building including its website and leasing materials.
Create a promotional announcement email for the new Vans Hightops
Get occasional updates and helpful resources via email! Plus, we'll keep you in the loop about new briefs and features we release. See you in your inbox!
