How we use AI to write creative briefs

At creative briefs, our goal is to create detailed and specific real-world design prompts. We believe that great projects are rooted in real world context and as a result, writing briefs for them requires research to capture the correct details and parameters.

With the advent of AI-powered writing tools, such as ChatGPT, there has been much debate over the balance between agency and usefulness of such tools in creative projects. While it has become clear that these tools cannot replace humans, they do offer capabilities that make executing creative projects much easier.

CreativeBriefs takes a unique approach to utilizing creative AI tools. Our goal is to use AI to help humans improve their creative skills, rather than using it to create things ourselves. By doing so, we aim to empower people to learn more effectively.

When working with AI tools, whether for generating text or images, the process is never one-directional. It involves a back-and-forth between the human creator and the AI tool to achieve the desired outcome. Ultimately, the human is the one who knows and determines the desired outcome.

Our Process

To generate creative briefs quickly, we use ChatGPT to research relevant topics and generate content. We use different methods depending on the type of brief we're creating, whether it's brand new or based on another brief.

When creating a new brief, the process begins with a human writing out a rough draft of the brief's details, summary, and deliverables. This draft is then fed into a ChatGPT, which rewrites and clarifies it. From there, a back-and-forth conversation occurs between the author and the AI tool to create all the necessary content for the brief.

Below, you'll find a diagram documenting the process of how CreativeBriefs.xyz generates a new brief using AI.

If we are creating a brief from an existing one, we ask the ChatGPT to read the brief and understand it as a good outcome. Then, we as the creator, suggest changes to key details like brand, product, or marketing strategy. Each time the creator receives a response from ChatGPT, human judgement is used to determine whether or not the response makes sense and should be used, or rejected altogether.

Image Generation Tools

We have also begun to explore AI image generation tools, specifically DALL-E 2. These tools assist us in generating graphics for fictitious companies, whose brand information does not exist on the internet. In these cases, we prompt the AI to create logos or brand mockups using text-based inputs. By doing so, we utilize AI tools to generate contextual imagery that is useful for the given brief and for learning purposes.

For example, in our Web3 NFT Brand brief, we created a fictional company called MintyChain and came up with a backstory about a logo that was quickly created for a presentation, but needs improvement. We then asked an AI to generate a logo for MintyChain NFT company. Below are the four outputs and the subsequent logo created from them.

TLDR

At CreativeBriefs.xyz, we take a unique approach to utilizing creative AI tools. Our goal is to use AI to help humans improve their creative skills, rather than using it to create things ourselves. By generating creative briefs quickly using ChatGPT and exploring AI image generation tools, such as DALL-E 2, we are able to create detailed and specific real-world design prompts that are rooted in real-world context. While AI tools cannot replace humans, they offer capabilities that make executing creative projects much easier.

Ultimately, we believe that the human is the one who knows and determines the desired outcome in the back-and-forth process between the human creator and the AI tool to achieve the desired outcome.
